Embroidery is only a fabric-based application.

This can be done with direct embroidery onto a given item, or made into a patch that is then sewn on later to the said item.

The application of embroidery depends on the item. The more thick or irregularly shaped an item is, will tend to be a patch-based application that is sewn on in-house after patch completion. Any other items that do not fall into that category can be directly embroidered.
